‘Fly Away‘ is inspired by my Art History studies in Paris and my fascination of Art Nouveau and the Art and Craft movement (René Lalique’s jewellery and Alphonse Mucha’s designs in particular). It is a fusion of these styles of natural forms and flowing lines, with calligraphy writing, where the form and shapes of wings is mirrored with the dramatic use of the lines and curves of letters. Wings, feathers or birds are translated into little poetic messages. They are metaphors for taking opportunities, going outside our comfort zone, to follow our own dreams. It is also about journeys, physical or spiritual, about life’s ever-changing paths, about finding yourself far and away.
