Just a few feathers to remember…
_ How de we convey the emotional landscape and poetic depth of someone’s journey?
‘The Journey’ is an intimate statement necklace and an incantation for love. It’s a kaleidoscope of the sensations unearthed from ‘Bodies in Movement’, a journey physical or spiritual, travelling on the road or in time, and in the context of forced migration and exile.
The dramatic line created using a gold wire is the ‘Golden Path of Life’ which also represents the blood rushing through the veins of our body, in moments of intense feelings, struggles, transformative events.
Acting as a veil, the ‘Silver Skin’ with its undulations of vulnerability creates a blurred line between the dreams we have the reality we live in. Caressing our skin from time to time are little silver feathers, like little messages, cold and unbearable or fragile and soft reminders of forgotten wishes, people we lost, unsaid words, secrets we keep.
The use of real found white feathers from doves resonates with the fragility of our own feelings, and their tactile quality act as an incantation for love. It is a symbolic offering of courage, strength, hope and tenderness, to people on their journey: a ‘nest of love’ given to Bodies in Movement.
